The iguana is under the bed.

It has been and active day in Washington, Illinois. For one thing it got up to 73 degrees. We have had an excellent day of learning. I have been wanting the children to get more comfortable with making letters. I decided to have the children use the stackable cubes to make the letters we are working with "Discovering the Desert". I got out the H, I, and Y Letter Flags and let the children try to make the letters.

The children wanted to play "Don't Spin the Scorpion " again. The kids got even more practice identifying and matching up their colors. Since the weather has gotten warmer I put a table by the window and I put a princess castle on it and it has ended up being a main attraction.

This is one of our family members Oreo the cat.

" Where is a good place to draw ? What happens if you draw on the wall?" According to the children a sidewalk and a chalkboard are a good place to draw.  I explained to all the kids that Egyptians drew Hieroglyphics on the walls of the pyramids to tell stories about what had happen where they live. The kids told me if they drew on the wall they would get in trouble. I got out a dry erase board , dry erase markers, and cookie cutters so the kids could make their own Hieroglyphic story. The kids really took their time and came up with neat stories.

We stamped and designed out pyramids. We did not get to put the sand on because the children wanted to keep painting. I was alright with this because their logic, fine motor skills, and creativity got more time to be developed. The "Pokey Plant Painting" gave the children time to work on the same skills.

Some strong storms came through Washington, Illinois and there was a beautiful light show of lighting.

"Pyramid Designs " was an awesome way to do math. I love that I could let the children fully explore this on their own. They need hands on experiences to reinforce the skills they are learning.

The "Pokey Plant Painting" was very fun for the kids to do. They loved cutting out and gluing their cactus and being able to paint with a fork was their favorite.

I love being a daycare provider and teaching will all my heart. Using "Mother Goose Time Curriculum " lets all the children explore every part of the universe of learning. All of us are off to explore other places. We can not wait to come back and share with everyone what we are learning with "Mother Goose Time Curriculum".

SNAKES RUN FASTER !!!!!!!!

I am about to finish another two classes towards my teaching degree. It feels awesome to be closer to getting my teaching degree. I very much want to continue being a daycare provider and open a preschool .To add to the great things the weather continues to stay warm and it even going to be in the 70's this week. My middle daughter has been trying to find a different job before she goes back to school. She wants to first become a Certified Nursing Assistant then she wants to become a Physical Therapist. My oldest daughter wants to be a veterinarian. It will definitely make our family more interesting.
We visited the Sahara Desert and we enjoyed every minute of it.

We went searching for deserts around the world on our "Global Friends World Map". The children pointed to Africa and Australia as having deserts. This was a great experience for the kids. Having the kids understand that there are fantastic people and things around the world.

Reading "Sahara Blue Men " was so much fun. Each time I read the word blue I let the kids find something in the room that was blue. The kids got me laughing because they were very determined to find blue items. I going to do the story again , but I will be doing it as a Easter egg hunt for blue Easter eggs. I am going to hide the Easter eggs all around my yard.

"What do you bring when you go for a walk ?" Of course according to the children you bring a big bottle of water, root beer, and a water fountain.
Camels came up next on our desert tour. The children told me if camels go out in the desert they will dry up and die. Next we learned that camel and human bodies store food and water. This is how the camel can go across the desert because they store water in their hump.  I was excited to see the "Camel Puppet" activity again. I turned the children loose and let them create their own "Camel Puppet". Their fine motor skills , logic, creativity, and artistic skills got some exercise.

We even made progress on our "Canteen Prop" too. All of us brought our water bottles outside to enjoy the warm sunshine.

We did "Don't Spin the Scorpion" a bit early because this little girl loves the games with the spinners. I laminated the game and cut the squares apart .When the kids landed on a color I had them name the color first. Then they put a cube on the correct color. I know this game is going to used many, many, many times. All of us keep wanting to learn more and more with " Mother Goose Time Curriculum".  Before all of you know it we will all be back to share our adventures with every one.                    http://www.mothergoosetime.com/                                    Patty
