" Can it fit ?" was so much fun. It gave the kids a chance to practice reading the sight words. It taught them not everything is the same size. Also it made them think about which and how many animals would fit in the hole.
Egypt made an appearance on our map. The kids were not very familiar with Egypt. We talked about rock carvings and pyramids.
It is a sunny 4 degrees in Washington, Illinois today. I took my middle daughter to work and I had to let my car warm up at least 15 minutes before it was warm enough to get into.
Names of animals as vocabulary has made it fun watching the kids learn to recognize the words. "Wild Animal Match" gave them practice finding the correct animal, learning letters, and words. This little girl liked every single animal on the cards.
With every Mother Goose Time manipulitive I get the kids enjoy them to the fullest. They have been learning so much with the shape beads and strings. They are learning teamwork and sharing. They are identifying shapes and they are working on counting.
The "Giraffe Spots Game" is amazing. The kids jumped right in and started playing. First they counted the spots on the number card. Then they turned the card over to see if they were right. After that they counted the number of spots they needed. With the way the game is set up I feel the kids got some valuable counting and number recognition practice.

Being on safari has been keeping all of us warm this week. We have a "Wind Chill Advisory" today and tomorrow. Our first stop on our safari was the "Lions". We talked about the "Topic Poster" and I told that is was a boy lion because he has no eyelids. We worked on "Why am I so small?". The story cards that go with it helped the kids understand the story better and it made the story so much fun. The kids were able to answer all the questions about the story. The last time I did this project there was just a black piece of paper and chalk . The blue paper and the eyeballs are very cool. It gave the children so many more opportunities to be creative. We got busy with our journals too. Imagination and writing the letter "Z" went very well.
The story cards are awesome. The children learned how to recognize A,B, C, D and they learned they are just fine the way they are. The kids liked the pictures on the other side of the cards too. All of us including me learned ways to be more "Patient". The "Be Patient " activity is great. This gave everyone skill they need to learn in a fun way . We also got much needed practice on " number recognition with the lion and zebra number cards.
