Communication with our bodies

Body Language on Day 16 was a blast . I was excited to the "American Sign Language" poster Mother Goose Time had included as part of this lesson. I already have a daycare child I do sign language with to communicate with her.All the kids have really taken the time to look at the poster and try to sign the letters. This poster is very beneficial to everyone. I will be keeping the poster out so everybody can learn how to communicate with the little girl who uses sign language. The Concept Review of Shapes was great.  I had the circle from the Circle Time Display and the tangrams. These have been such a great help with teaching the children their shapes. I would to use them with Octobers curriculum"In the Orchard. We reviewed circles, triangles, rectangles , and squares.

The "Love Sign" Project gave the kids more hands on experience. The kids are getting much better with using the scissors. There is one child that needs some direction because she gets going with the scissors and does not want to stop.I would say the favorite part of this project was the green sand. They looked at the sand like it was from a different planet.

This part of the lesson was more challenging. There was a lot of struggling forming a letter. We will be working more with letter structure. They did have a good time playing with the Play-Doh.

The Number Concept Review gave the kids a challenge too. It really made one little girl think."Dial and Jump"was interesting . I put paper with numbers on the floor and I also had some play phones too. We also talked about when you should call "911". I was told fire in the house , bunny rabbit on fire, and if somebody has fallen down."Pretend Phone "went over well . After the phone was done there were many phone conversations which is great for social skills.

Build and Call was such a great way for kids to create their own design and learn shapes too.All I had to do was set everything out and the kids were ready to do it. Learning their shapes and using logic . I hope Mother Goose Time continues to make these. They are really helping the kids.

This little girl had such a great time making whatever she wanted with the shapes that I allowed more time for this part. She was getting so much out of it , I wanted to make sure she had enough time to make what she wanted. We have more adventures to find.
