Strawberries and Cows

Washington, Illinois has had a wild roller coaster of weather and temperatures. It had been very cold and winter like to jumping ahead to Spring in February. I have taught my daycare children " Food and Fitness before. I believe it was a couple of years ago. The changes Mother Goose Time  has made to " Food and Fitness" is fantastic. The activities are so much more hands- on where the children can do them all by themselves. There is also many more visual aids to help the children understand the concepts better. I love all the new items so much.
"What do you know about fruit?" and
" Where does fruit come from?" started off our day. The very first
answer was garden. We did get to the fact that farmers grow fruit as well. " Strawberry Stamping" is still fabulous. I did this activity before as well. The children's fine motor skills get challenged. They get to be creative and use their logic skills. The kids loved painting with the porcupine balls. I put paint on one tray and the strawberry on another tray. After that I stepped back and let the kids make their own magic.

"Parts of a Cow" was great for the kids. They had so many opportunities to work on cutting skills.

"What foods do you think have protein?" made me hungry. The kids told me eggs, meat, and chicken. The " Healthy Plate Game " went over very well with all the children. I laminated the board and all the game pieces so if something got spilled on it I could wipe it off. This game makes the children think about how much food they should put on their plate and how much of each food group. It also gets the children started with associating pictures and what words go with them.

The "Geo Boards" have inspired many different designs from all the children. They are using creativity, logic, math, fine and gross motor skills.  The children worked with the "Geo Boards " for 30 minutes.
The children would take their time with one design and when they would get finished they would take all the rubber bands off and start all over again.

We can not wait for more adventures with Mother Goose Time Curriculum. We will be back very soon to share more of our adventures.
